- Staement of Work The Navy currently has eight Low Pressure Chambers, (LPC) in service used for high-altitude indoctrination and hypoxia recognition and recovery training for aircrew personnel. The LPC consists of a permanently mounted rectangular reinforced steel vacuum chamber with acrylic windows, controls, communications and auxiliary equipment required for high altitude training. The acrylic windows on the eight Navy LPCs have been granted a 10-year service life extension certification in accordance with (IAW) ANSI/ASME PVHO-2-2003 (R2008), Section 10, Mechanical Property Testing, under a separate contract with Hydroports, Inc. in 2006 and 2007. The service life extension for these acrylic windows requires follow-on inspections every 24 months IAW ANSI/ASME PVHO-2-2003 (R2008), Section 7, Inspection of PVHO Windows and Viewports, Table 7.2.2, Maximum Intervals for Window Maintenance Inspections. The required service is re-inspection and certification of the acrylic windows on the eight Navy LPCs.
