Description
On or about 25 March 2010, this office will issue Request for Proposals for design and construction of the GENERATOR REWIND UNITS 5, 7 AND 8, BIG BEND POWERHOUSE, FORT THOMPSON, SD. The solicitation will close on or about 18 May 2010. This solicitation is UNRESTRICTED AND OPEN TO BOTH LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. A tentative site visit date will be announced. Provisions in the solicitation documents will provide detailed information (meeting place, time, points of contact, and access requirements). DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. Project Description: (Approx. quantities) This work consists of design, manufacture, testing and delivery of stator laminations, stator windings, and accessories for 3 units with the 3rd unit being optional. It will require disassembly the Units, alignment checks, and removal of existing stator windings, and stator cores. The Units will then have the newly designed and manufacture stator cores and windings installed. This will require stacking the laminations, installing the windings, making all connections between the coils, and testing. Additionally, the units rotors will be cleaned, inspected, tested and the field leads reinsulated. Lastly, air coolers will be furnished and installed on the three units. Units will be completely reassembled and final tests will be performed insuring unit integrity. The existing units are 81.8RPM, 13.8kV, and 62MVA with 115% overload ability. The existing units have a total of 384 coils and slots The estimated construction cost of this project is between $15,000,000 and $20,000,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work by 3 years after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
