- THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) PROCUREMENT. The purpose of this announcement is to make notice that the Forest Service contemplates releasing a solicitation numbered AG-0489-S-10-0381 on or about March 25, 2010, for the RECOVERY Kunk Lake Trail Boardwalk and Bridge Deferred Maintenance project. If the solicitation is released, it will be released through this FedBizOpps website, and prospective bidders should visit this FedBizOpps website from time to time on or after March 25, 2010 to obtain a copy of the solicitation. This notice meets the requirements of FAR 5.201. However, the Forest Service reserves the right not to release a solicitation. PROJECT DESCRIPTION. This project is comprised of work on the Kunk Lake Trail, Forest Trail No. 22506. The project includes the fabrication and installation of a glued-laminated stringer trail bridge and the fabrication and installation of a glued-laminated longitudinal slab bridge. The project also involves construction of puncheon structures. Also included is the removal and disposal of two native log bridges and removal of existing damaged puncheon step and run. The project consists of a Base Bid and four Option Items. The intent of the contract is to provide for the complete construction of the project described in the contract. Unless otherwise provided, the Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies and perform all work required to complete the project in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and provisions of the contract. The Government estimate is between $100,000 and $250,000 (Base and Option Items). PROJECT LOCATION. The project site is located on Etolin Island, approximately 14 miles southwest of Wrangell, Alaska. The Kunk Lake Trail trailhead is located at tidewater on Etolin Island, directly west of Nemo Point on Zimovia Strait. The Kunk Lake Trail is approximately 1.27 miles long. The trail ends at Kunk Lake. The Kunk Lake Trail trailhead can be accessed by boat or floatplane from Wrangell, Alaska. Wrangell is a full service community accessible by water or air. Wrangell is served by two barge lines, the Alaska Marine Highway, and Alaska Airlines. PARTICIPATION. This project is being issued under the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program (FAR 19.10) which allows for Full and Open Competition. FOR MORE INFORMATION.
