- The proposed contract action is for commercial item, which the Naval Medical Center San Diego intends to solicit this requirement on a sole source basis to W.L. Gore & Associates under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items, prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes only solicitation, quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), sole source justification is based on W.L. Gore & Associates being the only company that manufactures and distributes their own products. Radiologists and Body Imagers at NMCSD are trained using the W.L. Gore & Associates product line. Also, W.L. Gore's abdominal aorta grafts to repair aneurysms are custom made to fit each patient.
