- In accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 5, this synopsis is posted for the United States Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service (MMS) Procurement Operations Branch. This synopsis is to announce the Governments intent to award a sole source purchase order in the amount of $30,000.00 as a sponsoring Federal Agency to the National Academy of Sciences, for the Marine Board 2010 Program, in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the Agency requirements. MMS Procurement Operations Branch anticipates awarding a Purchase Order to National Academy of Sciences, 500 Fifth Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20001. The 2010 Marine Board Program of the National Academy of Sciences is an internationally recognized source of expertise on maritime transportation and marine engineering and technology. The Marine Board Program serves the national interest by providing evaluations and advice concerning the ability of the national marine and maritime industries to operate safely and efficiently. The anticipated total value of this procurement is in the amount of $30,000.00. The anticipated period of performance is twelve (12) months. This is NOT a request for competitive proposals. This notice is not a formal solicitation. The intent of this Special Notice is for informational purposes only. This is not considered a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFP). A determination by the Government not to compete this action based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. However, any and all information received by the POC listed below by close of business March 17, 2010, will be considered by the Government.
