- The Directorate of Contracting, Fort Hood, Texas intends to procure maintenance services for Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), on a sole source basis under the authority of 10 USC 2304(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The Government intends to enter into a firm fixed price bridge contract with Shane Gelling Company, 98 Prospect Avenue, Seacliff, NY 11579 for a period of 6 months from 1 April 2010 through 30 September 2010. The NAICS code for this procurement is 561621 Security System Services with a size standard of $12.5M. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES and no solicitation will be issued. This proposed bridge contract will allow the Government time to pursue a competitive, long term contract action. Initiating a separate competitive action for a 6-month bridge contract would not outweigh the benefits to the Government. Time does not permit a phase-in period, therefore, there is not a reasonable expectation a new contractor will successfully perform without critical delays and/or interruption of service.
