- Subject: DMOL3 and the Materials Studio Visualizers Software Maintenance Agreement Purchase Request Number: NB4844080-A-03978 Notice Type: Special Notice Synopsis: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Optical Technology Division intends to negotiate with Accelrys Software, Inc from San Diego, California on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106-1 (b), Soliciting from a single source, to procure a one-year software maintenance agreement contract with Accelrys Software, Inc. The intention of this procurement is to acquire software maintenance services for DMOL3 and the Materials Studio Visualizers. DMOL3 software from Accelrys is a program used to perform quantum mechanical calculations using density functional theory on molecules, surfaces, and solids. DMOL3 is also an all electron code, and does not require the use of less accurate pseudo potentials or muffin tins to describe core electrons. NIST requires that the results be accessible through the Cerius2 and Materials Studio visualizers and interface software’s, which NIST already have in-house. DMOL3 is NIST primary computational “instrument,” and have been in use for several years to generate results. NIST need to be able to compare the numerical results from new calculations with the old DMOL3 results, otherwise NIST have to repeat many years worth of work because of numerical differences between methods Based on the above information, Accelrys Software, Inc provides all the services required by NIST which are described below: Required Service: •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY: 48; EA •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY :17; EA •Product : MS DMOL3 INTERFACE QTY: 5; EA •Product: MS VISUALIZER QTY: 5; EA •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY: 24; EA •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATEQTY: 15; EA •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY: 32; EA •Product: MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY: 96; EA •Product; MS DMOL3-SOLID STATE QTY: 24; EA NIST anticipates negotiating and awarding a firm-fixed-price type purchase order. Interested parties that believe they could satisfy the requirements listed above for NIST may clearly and unambiguously identify their capability to do so in writing on or before the response date for this notice. This notice of intent is not a solicitation. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
