Description
The Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection, Office of Air and Marine (OAM) currently operates a fleet of specialized, riverine vessels that are operated by the Border Patrol Agent- Marine (BPA-M). To maintain operational viability, OAM intends to procure a limited number of Riverine Airboats (RA) as an operational requirement gap solution; the initial plan is to purchase 3 RA’s in the first year of the contract. DHS CBP intends to solicit this requirement as a total small business set-aside. The OAM Riverine Airboat will be powered by 496-cubic inch, 425 horsepower marine engine. The vessel will be operated in varying sea and weather conditions, in shallow river and lakes within the United States. The RA will be required to operate in 4 inches of water and be capable of safely transiting areas containing rocks, gravel, trees/logs, sandbars and extreme vegetation while providing the BPA-M with a safe working platform to perform their duties and mission. This vessel will also be used for port security support missions, special operation missions, and to pursue suspect vessels for the purpose of boarding, searching, and when necessary arresting violators and seizing the vessel and or contraband.
