Description
The United States ARMY Program Manager Solider Protection & Individual Equipment (PM-SPIE) is requesting information regarding the manufacture of light weight B4C and/or SiC ceramic based body armor inserts. Requested information is only for inserts containing ceramic materials that have not been previously tested or evaluated by the PM-SPIE, US Army. Information requested includes technical data package, vendor capabilities and limitations with regard to the production of B4C/SiC tiles and armor inserts, to include material capabilities, place of manufacture, source of materials, proven production capacity and surge rate, as well as all known interoperability issues with all equipment currently used by US Army. Additionally, information regarding vendors products currently in production is also requested. The armor inserts shall meet or exceed Enhanced Small Arm Protective Inserts (ESAPI) or X Small Arm Protective Inserts (XSAPI) ballistic performance and weight requirements. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only, does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. The Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future development efforts. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government and is for informational purposes only. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted.
