Description
AMENDMENT: This action originally publicized on 5 Feb 2010 is amended to provide the clarifications listed below (All other information publicized in the original synopsis remains unchanged, including the receipt date for responses of No Later Than (NLT) 1500 hours (CST), March 10, 2010): 1. Section 3. Capabilities - Is the weight of the protective transport container or bag also included in the 5.5 lbs? A: If a protective transport container or bag separate from the launch tube is required, then it should be included in the 5.5 lbs. The intent is that the maximum load added to the soldier due to carrying the munition is 5.5 lbs. The only components accounted for separately are the Ground control station components. 2. PARA 1, Subject, The LMAMS is designed to provide a soldier carried, soldier ground launched NLOS... Obvious that LMAMS has to be portable, but are we looking for it to be launched from a man, shoulder, or can it sit on the ground? A: The intent is for a single dismounted soldier to be capable of launching and controlling the munition. As long as this is provided for, it is up to the offeror as to whether it is launched from a man, his shoulder, or with it sitting on the ground. 3. Is the LMAMS launcher desired to be shoulder mounted during launch? A: The intent is for a single dismounted soldier to be capable of launching and controlling the munition. As long as this is provided for, it is up to the offeror as to whether it is launched from a man, his shoulder, or with it sitting on the ground. 4. Is the LMAMS launcher desired to support 360 deg. Azimuth directional (non-vertical) over some small Quadrant Elevation? A: Quadrant elevation, vertical or non-vertical, is left to the discretion of the developer. The LMAMS munition shall provide 360 degree coverage capability. 5. Is the LMAMS airframe desired to return to launch location when loss of control data link? A: No. A safe loss of link procedure for destroying the munition must be established. 6. Is the LMAMS airframe desired to be recoverable? A: No. 7. What is the desired date for first flight test? A: Systems are preferred that have already undergone flight tests. AMRDEC does not currently have funding for flight tests. Desired date would be NLT late FY11 or early FY12. 8. What is the desired date for first production systems? A: Funding is not available for production systems. Desired date would be NLT FY14. 9. Part (b) of section 5 asks for integration cost. I am not sure if this means: 1. integration of the components into the weapon, 2. integration of the weapon system into the Army, 3. integration of the weapon into some other vehicle, 4. some other meaning. A: The intent of the cost factors was as follows: a) Development costs: Development costs for key technologies and components b) Integration Costs: Costs to integrate components and technologies from (a), above, into a system (munition, launcher, GCS and associated equipment, etc.) and perform system level testing c) Cost per system: self explanatory 10.
