Description
THE NASA GLENN RESEARCH CENTER (GRC) AWARDED UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERYANDREINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 A TASK ORDER FOR ENGINEERING SUPPORT SERVICES UNDERTHEPREVIOUSLY AWARDED, COMPETITIVE 8(a) CONTRACT NNC06BA07B WITH ASRC AEROSPACECORPORATION. ARRA funds for NASAs Fundamental Aero Program are being utilized to help design andfabricate combustor rig improvements to enable testing of advanced low nitrogen oxide(NOx) injector designs. The Advanced Subsonic Combustion Rig located at the NASA Glenn Research Center is ahigh-pressure, high-temperature combustion rig that simulates combustor inlet testconditions. The Advanced Subsonic Combustion Rig is equipped to measure both gasemissions and perform nonintrusive laser diagnostic emission testing in a high pressurehigh temperature environment that mimics the conditions of high pressure ratio jet enginecombustor section. This unique combustion test rig allows researchers and enginecompanies to test sector combustors that will be used in future aircraft engines.NASA/GRC has issued a task order under existing contract NNC06BA07B to procureengineering services to support the design and fabrication of the upgrade of the existingNASA GRC Advanced Subsonic Combustion Rig test section plenum hardware and its supportingwater-cooling subsystems. These upgrades will increase the Advanced Subsonic CombustionRigs testing capabilities which will allow the development of prediction and analysistools for reduced uncertainty in the combustor test article design process.THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. A CPAF order is appropriate for this procurement because of the uncertain nature of theresearch/testing support activities required cannot be estimated to the level of accuracynecessary to allow the use of a fixed-priced contractual vehicle.
