Description
Market Research Warehouse, Drayage, and Shipment Long Term Service Contract. The Government is conducting market research for the East Coast Export Mission Contract. The brief overview of this long term contract is for contractor owned/leased, contractor operated refrigerated facility for warehouse operations and handling services in support of Department of Defense (DoD) customers in the Tidewater Virginia mission area for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable products and chill and freeze products. Overview of the Long term service contract: The contractor shall provide the facility, equipment, supervision, and personnel to receive, handle, sort, stage, hold, account for, and ship Government owned perishable subsistence items to overseas customers. The contractor shall provide drayage services to points of embarkation for export shipments. The embarkation points for export shipments are: 1. Charleston Air Base, 2. Norfolk Naval Air Station. 3. McGuire AFB and 4. Dover AFB. Proposals from potential vendors will be accepted on one or more embarkation points. Items to be consolidated in shipping containers include full-line frozen and chilled products and beverage items, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh milk and fresh bread products. The contractor shall be familiar with, and utilize sound, generally accepted warehouse practices including: contamination prevention; and ventilation requirements; proper handling, stacking, and storage techniques; and shall be well-versed regarding delivery/distribution operations. The awardee must be capable of complying with the government's service requirements as well as accommodating export operational and administrative duties.
