- Scope of work: This Scope of Work includes three items: 1. A new well pump; 2. New pipe from the new well to the existing water storage tank; and 3. New electrical service for the well pump. Item #1 Pump The new well pump capacity needs to be a minimum of 700 gallons per minute at a total dynamic head of 100 feet. The new column will be 8 inch in diameter and will be 120 feet long and will be oil lubed. The pump inlet will be connected to an 8 inch suction pipe that is 10 feet long. It will include a galvanized strainer. The new pump motor shall be 20 bhp at a nominal speed of 1800 rpm. An example pump is the Fairbanks Morse Model 10G, 3 stage, with the "B" impeller trim (7.66 inch). The new pump will be powered by a 20 bhp motor. The new pump shall be mounted on a C.I. base. This work item will also include the installation of a concrete base for the well. (Please see drawings.) Item #2 Plumbing This contract will include all plumbing to connect the new well to the existing discharge into the water storage tank. The new plumbing will consist of standard wall steel 8 inch pipe above ground and 8 inch CL 100 PVC pipe below ground. The connection from steel to PVC shall be with MJ connectors such as the Star Pipe Model RAC 4208 StarFlange with IPS PVC pipe gaskets (or equivalent). The first section of PVC pipe connected at the MJ shall be a full length of 20 feet. Installation will need to be accomplished so as not to damage existing below ground piping and electrical services. There are no known underground utilities where the pipe is to be installed. However, it will be required of the contractor to contact Underground Service Alert to confirm whether any utilities exist. All above ground steel pipe shall be painted with AMERLOCK 400 epoxy paint (or equivalent). Paint shall extend to ground level or lower. The pipe shall be prepared by removing all greases and oils and shall be wire brushed. All welding scale shall be removed. The paint shall be applied according to manufacturer's recommendations. All below ground steel pipe shall be bitumastic coated and wrapped with a 10 mil PVC protection tape. These coatings shall extend to one foot above the ground surface. The above ground plumbing shall include a 6 inch meter section. Included in this section will be the existing water meter that is in the discharge of the original well. Item #3 Electrical The existing well pump is a 15 BHP pump. The new pump will be a 20 BHP pump, and will be over 100 feet from the existing pump panel. Therefore, the pump panel will need to be moved to the new location with buried electrical service. The existing pump panel includes a water level control system for automatic control of the pump meant to keep the 8000 gallon supply tank full. This control system will need to be included in the pump controls at the new location. Where possible, the existing electrical components shall be used in the new system. A site visit is recommended prior to giving a bid. This work is set aside for emerging small business under FAR 6.203 and USDA set aside policy dated 2009
