- Solicitation The Afghan Ministry of Defense (MOD) has a requirement to expand the existing Wide Area Network (WAN) throughout Afghanistan to meet the communication needs of the Afghan National Army (ANA). This requirement will include planning WAN expansion, installation of WAN equipment to expand the network, WAN upgrade to increase the bandwidth of the existing network, WAN operations and maintenance service, WAN training and minor construction such as but not limited to cable trenching. Presently, the WAN provides service from the Kabul Headquarters down to the Regional FOBs (Forward Operation Bases). The expansion of the network will include Corps, Brigades, Kandak (Battalion), Garrison Support Units, Afghan Partnering Units, and Air CORP HQs, which have not been part of the existing network infrastructure.
