- The United States Postal Service intends to award a Design Build Competitive Guaranteed Maximum Price contract to construction of a new 64,372 gross square foot addition to the existing Margaret L. Sellers Processing and Distribution Center in San Diego CA, renovation of a portion of the existing platform, and a 7,200 gross square foot standard pre-engineered storage building. Modifications to the existing storm water, incoming electrical service, fire water loop, and domestic water systems are required. Retaining walls shall be utilized to minimize the impact to the site surface drainage and truck traffic lanes. The scope of work includes demolition, a security closed circuit television system, the addition to and modification of the existing fire alarm, HVAC, electrical power, data/telephone, and paging systems. Extensive structural modifications to approximately 13,000 square feet of the existing mail platform must be performed to accommodate the addition to the building. The existing plant is in operation 7/24/365, all year round. The phased construction of this project shall not, in any case, interrupt the plant operation, truck access to the plant and loading docks. Base Bid time of performance is 270 calendar days from date of Notice to Proceed. All work is noted on the plans and specifications issued by the Postal Service request for proposal. Subcontracting goals for this project are: Small Business 31.20%, Minority Business 3.10%, and Women Owned Business 4.60%.
