- This project is for the design and renovation of space in an existing manufacturing facility, Bldg 208, at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL to support requirements of a new automated investment casting operation. The major parts of the scope include constructing walls with doors to separate the operational areas, installing a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system(s), and installing a water conditioning system. Most of the work is mechanical trades with some architectural and structural engineering support. The contractor will provide all design and demolition; purchase and install all materials and equipment; and commission systems to ensure proper operation. The purchase and installation of investment casting equipment will be by others, so this project requires coordination with other contractors. The building area associated with this project is approximately 6000 sq. ft. Design shall by a Registered Professional Engineer. The rough order of magnitude for this proposed procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. This procurement is unrestricted in accordance with the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, NAICS code 238220/$14,000,000. The solicitation, scope of work and specifications will be available on or about March 10, 2010. The solicitation and specification will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.502 and 5.102, therefore, hardcopies will not be provided. The solicitation shall be issued via the Internet at http://www.osc.army.mil/ac/aais/ioc and https://acquisition.army.mil/asfi and http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Any changes to the solicitation shall also be posted to these websites. It is the responsibility of the contractor to check these sites daily for any posted changes. CAUTION: This solicitation will be issued electronically as will any amendments thereto. It is therefore incumbent upon any interested parties to periodically access the above internet address in order to obtain any amendments that may be issued. Failure to obtain any said amendments and to respond to them prior to the date and time set for receipt of proposals may render your bid or proposal non-responsive and result in the rejection of the same.
