Description
The purpose of this document is to provide interested parties with some additional broad information regarding the scope and USG expectations in this effort. Please review the attached. PURPOSE The purpose of this special notice is to provide interested parties with some additional broad information regarding the scope and USG expectations in this effort. It is anticipated that the prospective bidders will use this information to generate questions and to fully understand the Governments requirements. The document is not intended to be a Request for Information (RFI) but is simply provided for the offerors to use as a tool to facilitate their bid and proposal process. BACKGROUND The FMU 152A/B Bomb Fuze and Accessories (USAF) is compliant with each of the requirements of the System Specification and is currently in full-rate production of 12,000 systems a year with a demonstrated surge capability in excess of 20,000 systems a year. In the near term, production implementation of an FMU 152B/B Bomb Fuze with a FZU 63/B Bomb Fuze Initiator is expected and will be the fully-compliant baseline for the follow-on production contract. From a design and manufacturing standpoint, the changes are minor and nomenclature changes were required only because a low airspeed capability was added and the GBU 15/AGM 130 mission capability was removed. The changes will be briefed in detail at the planned Industry Day and a draft System Specification will be provided. The Technical Data Package for this design will be made available "for information only". SCOPE The goal of this follow-on effort is to acquire systems that are fully compliant. This is a production effort and thus development is neither in the funding nor the schedule. Therefore, the following are some example scenarios envisioned: Current design (fully qualified design and facilities) Current design (requiring facility qualification/FAAT) Alternate design (fully qualified design and facilities) Alternate design (minor qualification/FAAT) If alternate designs are considered, offerors must be aware that the available funding is for production with extremely limited funding for design qualification, or verifications and validations beyond the First Article Acceptance Test (FAAT). Although this effort does not preclude minor changes to meet the Performance Specification, clearly one must enter this effort with a previously- qualified, production- ready product.
