- The Forest Service is in need of tree planting services to reforest lands after wildfire and timber harvest. The purpose of this contract is to secure tree planting services in a manner that insures tree survival and growth. Tree survival and growth is dependant on initial health of the tree seedlings, the manner in which trees are handled and planted, planting microsite, environmental conditions such as soil moisture and weather, and animal damage to the seedlings. Services secured with this contract will focus on the need to provide appropriate tree handling and planting techniques during a time period time when environmental conditions are most favorable to insure tree survival. C.1.2. Scope of Contract The solicitation is for tree planting services on Shoshone and Bighorn National Forest Lands. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified in the contract. The contract includes tree handling, planting (including scalping), and shading to provide the seedlings with the greatest chance of survival. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized, systematic manner to assure services shall be performed over the entire unit. C.1.2.1. This contract is a Performance based, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract with Base and 2 option years. There are snags and burned trees present in some of the planting units that create a potential for blowdown or falling debris, especially during windy conditions. THE SOLICITATION WILL BE RELEASED ON MARCH 10, 2010
