- SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic has awarded contract N65236-10-C-5196 in the amount of$410,400.00 to Rohde & Schwarz, 302 Sentinel Drive, Suite 105, AnnapolisJunction, MD 20701-1052 on 18 February 2010. The purpose of this contract is toprovide one HF-System (2x 1kW HF-Tx/Rx + 1x VLF-HF-Rx), Up-grade NSC. Inaddition to the above the required Rohde & Schwarz HF equipment can bemonitored and operated by means of an RS-422 interface. The basebandcommunications switch contains software that was specifically written tointerface with the required Rohde & Schwarz HF equipment over the RS-422interface. No other manufacturer's equipment can interface with the existingbaseband switch. The only current manufacturer of single channel HF narrowbandequipment is Rohde & Schwarz. The customer cannot support wideband HF equipmentas there is no physical space to install wideband antennas. Wideband HFantennas take up much more space than narrowband HF antennas. The HF equipmentalso supports Automated Link Establishment (ALE) and can operate on Link 11,both of which are the customers operational requirements. All documentation,training programs and support structure and mechanism is tailored around theRohde & Schwarz HF equipment. Any other equipment would require a totaloverhaul of the entire support, training and documentation program for thecustomer. This would incur significant monetary and time costs and could delayoperational abilities.
