- This is a sources sought synopsis for potential sources of supply for activated impregnated carbon in accordance with specification MIL-DTL-32101. The carbon is produced from steam activated bituminous coal and impregnated with metals (copper, zinc, molybdenum, silver, etc.) and triethylenediamine to provide protection against chemical warfare and riot control agents. The Government is interested in potential sources that possess the experience, knowledge and expertise in the production, test and delivery of this activated impregnated carbon. Each potential source shall provide the following: 1) Who are your sources of raw carbon and where are they located? 2) What specification(s), if any, are used for the raw carbon? 3) Who does the carbon impregnation? 4) What is the carbon base (i.e. bituminous, coconut, etc.)? 5) What are your lot sizes and what are the lead times to acquire them? 6) What items do you produce with the carbon? 7) Who are your customers? 8) How is production acceptance done and what specifications are used? 9) How long have you obtained carbon from the source(s)? 10) Can your carbon meet the gas life requirements of MIL-DTL-32101? Contractors should submit a response with the above referenced information via email to missy.witt@us.army.mil no later than 24 Feb 2010 at 3:45 CST. Electronic submission is required; phone calls will not be accepted.
