- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award on a sole source basis a contract to Thermo Fisher Scientific, Asheville LLC, 308 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC 28806. A contract shall be issued for maintenance for the following instruments that are required to obtain the mission of the Influenza Division of Pandemic and Seasonal Surveillance and associated research for vaccine and therapeutics development. RC-5C Plus Cent 20 Discovery 90 Ultra Legend RT Super T 21 Table C Fluoroskan Ascent Discovery 90SE 208 Sorvall Legend Mac Sorvall WX 90 Ultr Heracell 150 Duals Justification for other than full and open competition is considered due to the fact that maintenance contracts for new and older equipment is only offered by the original manufacturer to ensure the integrity of the instrument and the availability/integrity of parts and service engineers. Thermo Fisher is the only provider that can guarantee that a specific part, software version or a new feature on the equipment can be provided or serviced by their engineers. No other alternatives are considered at this time since the product to be maintained technical nature and complexity deemed it best supported by the vendor who developed, designed and installed the various instances of the application. Note 22 applies herein. The statutory authority permitting other-than-full-and-open competition is 41 U.S.C., 253(c)(1): FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract will be based on responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for informational purposes. This procurement is not set-aside for small business.
