- Construction project entitled McNary Intake Crane Main Hoist Modifications The new drums shall be manufactured by a crane manufacturing company with experience fabricating large diameter spiral grooved drums. The drums shall be inspected and grooves measured to verify tolerances have been met. This scope of work requires the removal of pieces of steel checker plate on the gantry roof for mobile crane access to the drums. After all hoisting is complete, the checker plate pieces shall be reinstalled and the roof coating shall be repaired. Lead abatement shall be performed where needed. The scope consists of removal of the existing drums, gears and bearings from the crane, properly crating each item and transporting and unloading inside the McNary Dam warehouse area. Existing drum bearing shear blocks shall be removed and disposed of by the contractor. New wire rope, drums, gears, and bearings shall be installed on the crane. The existing load blocks shall be temporarily stored and reinstalled. New rope shall be re-reeved, with adjustments made to accommodate proper installation and lift. All hoist gears, couplers, and components shall be aligned. Gears and bearings shall be lubricated. New drum bearing shear blocks shall be installed. Inspections, operational tests and a load test shall be performed per specifications and ASME B30.2. Critical dimensions and inspections shall be verified by an independent third party inspector. The contractor will also align the gear motors, brakes and other areas associated with the main hoist. One set of brake wheels will be re-machined and the reducer shaft will be inspected for straightness. Solicitation number W912EF-10-B-0006 will be posted to the FBO website on or about February 4, 2010.
