Description
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking offers for the construction of the garage infill project and related work at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. This project consists in the conversion of an existing parking garage, located on the lower level on the south side of the building, (approximately 30,000 SF) into a suite of offices, including the addition of two glass freestanding pavilions located at the east and west ends of the garage infill space. Upon the receipt of Technical and Cost Proposals and the selection of a successful Offeror, the Smithsonian Institution will execute a Fixed Price construction contract. All of the requirements which the successful Offeror must meet concerning this project shall be set forth in detail in the Solicitation Documents included with the Request for Proposal. Upon the receipt of Technical and Cost Proposals and the selection of a successful Offeror, the Smithsonian Institution will execute a Fixed Price construction contract. Proposals will be will be evaluated on the following: 1. Firm's Experience and Past Performance 2. Plan of Accomplishment and Contract Time 3. Key Personnel and Subcontractors Cost Proposal 4. Schedule of Values and Contract Price Work under this project includes structural modifications, and architectural upgrades, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and security renovations to accommodate the building's new functions. The Work includes, but is not limited to, all work specified on the drawings and in the specifications: Structural modifications, Demolition of existing finishes, New architectural finishes (floor, walls, ceilings), Exterior Masonry rehabilitation, New partitions, New bathrooms, Reconfiguration of mechanical/electrical/fire protection systems, Asbestos and Lead abatement, Modification, alteration and extension of security and fire alarm systems. Offerors may, at their own expense, obtain drawings and specifications and the scope of work the cost of which is non-refundable. One (1) compact disc containing electronic copies of drawings and specifications will be provided. Offerors shall be required to submit a small business subcontracting plan that includes minority, small disadvantaged, women owned and HUBZone businesses. All responsible offerors may submit a proposal that will receive consideration. Award will be made to the responsible, responsive offeror who, in the opinion of the Contracting Officer, best satisfies the needs of the Smithsonian Institution. Solicitation documents will be available on or about February 4, 2010.
