Description
All responses and inquiries to this request for information shall be sent to Dr. James Zheng at james.qing.zheng@us.army.mil or 703-704-4865. The United States Army Program Manager Solider Protection and Individual Equipment (PMPIE) is requesting information regarding the manufacture of ballistic fiber for soft body armor. Information requested includes vendor capabilities and limitations with regard to the product ion of high performance ballistic fibers, to include material capabilities, ballistic performance data package, place of manufacture, source of materials, proven production capacity and surge rate, as well as all known interoperability issues with all equi pment currently used by US Army. Additionally, information regarding vendor s products currently in production is also requested. Ballistic package (fabrics, non-woven, and other forms of materials using ballistic fibers) must meet Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV) ballistic performance requirements. Special attention will be paid on the ballistic packages less than 1.00 pound per square foot areal density and fully meet all IOTV performance requirements. This sources sought is for information and planning purposes only, does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. The Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future development efforts. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this sources sought. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government and is for informational purposes only. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this sources sought. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted.
