- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District intends to award a sole source contract to Woodex Bearing Company, Inc citing FAR 6.302-1 (B). To the best of the Government's knowledge, there are no other firms that can satisfy this requirement and a written solicitation will not be issued. The work to be done under this contract consists of obtaining the very rare wood lignum vitae and manufacturing the hydro-turbine bearings to the proper specifications. These items shall be shipped to Lock and Dam No. 15 in Rock Island, IL. Award of this contract will be in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A COMPETITIVE REQUEST FOR QUOTES. A determination by the government not to open competition based responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
