- ONCOLOGY SERVICE RN STATEMENT OF WORK RN to work Monday through Friday, 8 hour days ( PREFERABLY 8AM-430PM) in busy Chemotherapy Infusion clinic. Should have a minimum of one year of acute care experience, strong IV therapy skills, experience with chemotherapy, and BLS certification. Computer skills and keyboarding skills are necessary. Will have to have basic orientation to Medical Center and comply with any mandated training as it arises and is required by VACO. With orientation to local procedures, policies, and equipment, the nurse should be able to perform the following duties: - Start IVs. - Perform phlebotomy for lab testing and therapeutic phlebotomy. - Access and trouble shoot central lines and ports, provide patient education in relation to care of central lines and ports - Manage blood transfusions, administer chemotherapy including continuous infusions and IV Push medications - Assess and reassess patients on an ongoing basis while receiving chemotherapy -document care provided in the electronic medical record -demonstrate chemotherapy safe handling competency -Have a knowledge of vesicants and signs and symptoms of infiltration and emergency follow-up care -Have excellent communication skills and be able to triage phone calls coming into the department Must have good interpersonal skills.
