- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, MT requires the services of an abatement contractor to remove and dispose of approximately 8 cubic yards of soil contaminated with lead based paint chips from 3 buildings on the RML campus. Abatement consists of removal (within defined limits) of approximately 6 inches of soil at each building, testing of the soil for lead content, backfilling and compaction of the excavation with clean backfill and installation of new commercial grade matting. All abatement shall be governed by applicable Federal OSHA, EPA, and State of Montana requirements. The soil shall be removed, held on-site until the results of testing are received, and disposed of as either un-contaminated waste or hazardous waste, as determined by the testing. The contractor shall be paid for the abatement based upon the method of disposal determined by the lead content testing. Therefore, the contractor shall be required to offer pricing for each type of disposal activity. The magnitude of this project is estimated at less than $25,000. The invitation for bids is expected to be posted on or about 7 Jan 2010.
