- RECOVERY ACT - INSTALL PATIENT ACCESS DOORS BLDGS 3, 5 & 84. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center 5500 Armstrong Rd., Battle Creek, Michigan, 49037 anticipates soliciting bids and consequently awarding a contract for the construction project known as "RECOVERY ACT - Install Patient Access Doors Bldgs. 3, 5, and 84" The solicitation will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 14 (SEALED BIDDING) and Part 36 (CONSTRUCTION) and will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. The solicitation will be advertised as a Total Set-Aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, supplies, travel, etc. to perform all work under this project which consists of: RECOVERY ACT - Project 515-10-125 Install Patient Access Doors Bldgs. 3, 5, and 84: The contactor is to provide all of the material, labor and management for Project 515-10-125 FCA-Install Patient Access Doors B3, 5, 84, at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. This project will include installing automatic doors and exterior light fixture in a walkway near Building 3; work will consist of demolition by cutting an opening in brick wall salvaging and cleaning bricks to repair nearby damage corner wall. Remove asphalt parking and earth to allow for a new sidewalk entrance between the walkway and road allowing proper sloping. Install handicap and regular parking spaces on both sides of the sidewalk. Replace existing steel door frames and doors at two entrances in Building 5 and 84; remove steel door frame, door, and associated hardware. Install steel frames and automatic sliding doors. Replace existing door frame, doors, and associated hardware with electrified door frame, doors and hardware for B -136 penthouse. The period of performance is 180 calendar days for the entire project. Magnitude of construction is expected to be between $25,000 and $100,000. NAICS Code for this acquisition is 238290 Other Building Equipment Contractors - Door, Commercial- or Industrial-type, Installation The solicitation documents including specifications and drawings will be issued on or about Jan 6, 2010 and will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities (www.fbo.gov). This date is subject to change. Hard copy documents including drawings will not be available - all documents for bidding purposes will be posted at this website for download. Site visit information will be provided upon issuance of solicitation. Only one site visit is planned. Bids will be due 30 days after issuance of solicitation. This notice is for informational purposes only and is not a request for submission of offers. The Government is not obligated to issue a solicitation as a result of this notice. No other information is available until issuance of the solicitation. No bidder list is maintained. All potential bidders should register with Federal Business Opportunities for automatic notifications of changes if interested in this acquisition.
