Description
SOURCES SOUGHT Response date: This Sources Sought will be open for 45 days from the date of publication. 1. The Edgewood Chemical Biological Center is conducting market research to identify alternate sources for the M17A3 Lightweight Decontamination System (LDS) Fuel Regulating Valve Assembly and to obtain information on manufacturing capability, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) availability, and price. 2. The Fuel Regulating Valve controls the fuel pressure of the M17A3 burner fuel system and allows for the proper atomization of fuel at the burner nozzles. The valve maintains system pressure by allowing entrapped air and fuel to return to the reservoir. 3. Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Size, Shape and Interface "The valve, with all required adapters (if necessary), shall have male BSP threads at both the inlet and outlet ports. "The valve, including attached adapters, shall have a length of no more than 5 inches maximum and a thickness of no more than 1 maximum. Operational "The valve shall allow free passage of entrapped fuel system air. "The valve shall withstand a maximum pressure of 150 psi. "The valve shall be supplied by vendor with a preset operating pressure of 100 5 psi when operating with gasoline meeting ASTM D439 or with Viscor 16a (gasoline simulant) at a flow rate of 20 5 GPH. "The valve shall operate when running gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene or any combination of these fuels. Environmental "The valve shall operate at temperatures from -40F to 110F. "The valve shall be able to be stored at temperatures from -60F to +160F. "The valve shall operate properly at saturation of all the temperatures listed in the previous two (2) bullets. "The valve shall operate at an altitude up to 10,000 FT Mean Sea Level. Other considerations "The valve shall be such that the interior of regulator is not affected by hydrocarbon fuels and external surfaces are resistant to environmental effects to include but not limited to corrosion as well as alkaline fluids and chemicals. "The valve shall be marked to indicate the proper direction of fluid flow. 4. Candidates that meet the following additional requirements are strongly desired: Desired Characteristics "The valves preset pressure will be adjustable. 5. For reference, the average demand for the fuel regulator valve is expected to be approximately 180 valves per year. Suggested approximate ordering ranges for pricing are 0-5 units; 6-50 units; 51-100 units; 101-200 units; and 201-300 units. 6.
