- SOURCES SOUGHT Response date: This Sources Sought will be open for 45 days from the date of publication. 1. The Edgewood Chemical Biological Center is conducting market research to identify sources for the M17A3 Lightweight Decontamination System (LDS) Igniter Assembly and to obtain information on manufacturing capability, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) availability, and price. 2. The igniter assembly is used to transform the rectified DC voltage from the M17A3 into the high voltage required to discharge the M17A3 spark plug. 3. Candidates must meet the following requirements. Where a characteristic is preferred, but not initially mandatory, it is noted as preferred: Operational "Produces a minimum output voltage of 10kVDC from a rectified input voltage of 10VDC or less (representative input signal available upon request, contact tuan.nguyen3@us.army.mil). It is preferred that the igniter produce the required output voltage over the entire input range of 4-10VDC. "Output may be either continuous (preferred) or cyclical at one pulse per second (average). Size "Maximum envelope of 3x 3 x 2. Wiring "The following wire gauging is preferred: oInput Power and Ground Wires: 16 gauge stranded copper wires oOutput: 5mm Insulated High Tension Lead Reliability "It is expected that the igniter will operate a minimum of 200 hrs mean time between failures. Environmental "The igniter shall operate at temperatures from -40F to 110F. "The igniter shall be able to be stored at temperatures from -60F to +160F. "The igniter shall operate properly at saturation at all of the temperatures listed in the previous two (2) bullets. "The igniter shall operate at an altitude up to 10,000 ft Mean Sea Level (MSL) and be stored at an altitude up to 35,000 ft MSL. Durability "This igniter shall be sealed and constructed such that it is resistant to environmental effects as well as alkaline fluids and chemicals. 4. For reference, the average demand for the igniter assembly is expected to be approximately 1000 igniters per year. Suggested approximate ordering ranges for pricing are 0-5 units; 6-100 units; and 101-1000 units. 5. This Sources Sought (SS) is issued solely for information purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or the issuance thereof. All information received in response to this SS that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to the SS will not be returned. Responses to this SS are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this SS. Vendors having products that they believe would be suitable for this device as described herein shall submit hard copies and/or electronic copies of documentation deemed appropriate to demonstrate the capabilities of their product to meet the Armys requirements. No telephonic responses will be considered. 6.
