Description
The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division(NAVEODTECHDIV) is seeking Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and near COTSsystems capable of short range (less than 30 meters) stand-off threatdetection of Personnel Borne Improvised Explosive Device(s) (PBIED). Threatdetection includes and is not limited to explosives, electronic components,or other threat items. Systems for detection may include, but are notlimited to x-ray, terahertz, magnetometric, Infra Red and Ramanspectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, or a combination of several modes ofdetection. Detection can be through automated threat recognition, or throughoperator examination. This sources sought notice solicits vendors'information that fully explains their existing technology features, capabilities, and performance. NAVEODTECHDIV plans to select Threat Detection System(s) (TDS) forcomparative testing and evaluation. Reports will be written and availablefor use by government agencies and all the services. Technologies of TDS andImprovised Explosive Device (IED) detection that protect the forces andprevent terrorist attacks against military personnel, equipment and militaryinstallations by finding them at points of entry are sought. Ideally, thesetechnologies will allow antiterrorist/force protection/physical securitypersonnel to find threats, from a distance away, effectively and reliably, while inspecting personnel (to include personal articles carried bypersonnel) at military installations' entry points without slowingthroughput. The purpose of the TDS is to detect threats at a distance to providestand-off between personnel and the threat. PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT FOR COMPLETE DESCRIPTION
