- The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division(NAVEODTECHDIV) is seeking handheld or field portable desktop,commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Infrared spectroscopy based and Ramanspectroscopy based explosive detection equipment (EDE). The EDE needs to becapable of identifying explosives and precursor materials commonly used inthe manufacture of homemade explosives (HME) and improvised explosivedevices (IEDs). Technologies for explosives identification that protect theforce and prevent terrorist bombings against military personnel, equipment,and military installations are sought. This market survey solicits vendors'information that fully explains their existing technology features,capabilities, and performance. NAVEODTECHDIV plans to select EDE systems for a two phase comparative testand evaluation; each phase of the assessment will focus on one type ofspectroscopy. A report for each phase of testing will be written and madeavailable for use by government agencies and military services. Our intentis to test technologically mature and market ready equipment.
