Description
The objective of this task is to enhance NASAs capability to communicate theresults of NASAs Earth Science program and its relevance to todays scientific andsocietal challenges, particularly in the area of global climate change. The result willbe to increase the publics awareness and understanding of Earths complex systems, therole that NASAs Earth Science research and remote sensing play in our future, and thehuman excitement of the scientific exploration of our own changing planet. <P>The Jet Propulsion Laboratory plays an important role in communicating to the publicNASAs scientific endeavors and its importance to national issues. As a part of theEarth Science ARRA activities, NASA will invest in their communication and educationinfrastructure and content development at various NASA centers and JPL. The goal of thiseffort is to create sustained participatory experiences for citizens and communitiesacross the nation in order to promote Earth science literacy and NASAs role inquantifying climate change. JPL will upgrade its visual/animation infrastructure, tocreate innovative visualizations, and to enhance and expand its online global scienceefforts on behalf of the Agency. <P>This Task Order is awarded under the current NASA/Caltech cost-plus-award-fee ContractNAS7-03001 pursuant to the authority provided under 10 USC 2304(c)(3), as implemented byFAR 6.302-3.<P>Because of the complex, cutting-edge research and development efforts conducted at JPL, acost-type contract (NAS&-03001) is the appropriate contractual arrangement at this time.
