Description
The Wilkes Barre Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes Barre, PA intends to award a sole source contract for part-time neurosurgical services to Dr. V Benjamin Nakkache, 216 North River Street, Suite 550, Wilkes Barre, PA. Period of performance is 180 days from the date of award. This procurement is being made pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c) 1 and FAR Part 6.302-1, for other than full and open competition; only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Dr. Nakkache is the only local provider that can begin performing services immediately. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. In addition, please include the CV(s) for your proposed provider. Responses must be received within 48 hours of this posting. Position Information: Contractor shall be required to provide coverage (approximately eight hours per week) at the Neurosurgery Outpatient clinic, which is held during normal workday hours, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday - Friday (excluding federal holidays). Clinic schedule to be determined after award as based on availability of clinic space. Currently, clinic space is available for the Neurosurgical Outpatient clinic on Fridays from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Average number of patients seen during the clinic is 51 per month. Number of hours worked per week will vary, ranging from eight to twenty, depending on the surgeries that are scheduled. On-site surgical procedures will be scheduled according to the operating room availability. Scheduled initial or follow-up visits will be performed in the Neurosurgical clinic at the WBVAMC. Contractor will perform an average of two neurosurgical procedures per month and provide inpatient and outpatient evaluations for two patients per month. Position specific requirements: i.American Board Certification in Neurological Surgery ii.Degree of M.D. or D.O. with minimum 3 year intern residency completed iii.Valid and unrestricted Medical License iv.Current DEA v.Current BLS and ACLS certification A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
