- Atch 5 Vicinity Map Atch 4 Location Map Atch 3 Submittal Pkg. Atch 2 Tree Detail Sheet Request for Quote Bluewater Wildlife Mosaic Opening: The wildlife openings consist of vegetation treatment of treating 800 (160 separate openings) acres of pinion/juniper woodlands to improve mule deer habitat within the Bluewater Watershed, Otero County, New Mexico. Implementation consists of creating group selection cut areas using chainsaws approximately five acres in size in a mosaic pattern across the landscape, leaving 4 to 5 of the largest trees per acre. The leave trees will be the largest trees on site, or pinyon trees greater than 14 inches diameter at root crown (DRC) or juniper trees greater than 18 inches DRC. A buffer will be maintained between each of the openings of 50 to 100 feet to provide for cover and travel corridors.
