Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Variable Speed Tool Room Lathe Truman Power Plant 1.GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK. The contractor shall remove the existing lathe and provide and install a new lathe in the machine shop at Truman Power Plant. 2.APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS The publications listed form a part of this specification to the extent referenced. The publications are referred to in the text by basic designation only. AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARDS INSTITUTE (ANSI) ANSI B11.6(2001) Safety Requirements for Manual Turning Machines with or without Automatic Control AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (ASME) ASME B5.8(2001) Chucks and Chuck Jaws ASME B5.9(1967) Spindle Noses for Tool Room Lathes, Engine Lathes, Turret Lathes, and Automatic Lathes 3.NEW LATHE. The new lathe shall be a variable speed tool room type lathe. It shall be a Clausing/Colchester model 8055VSJ or approved equal. INSTALLATION. The machine shop at Truman Power Plant is located at elevation 658. The elevation of the plants overhead door is at elevation 682. The government will provide a crane operator to lift the lathes to and from the storage area on elevation 658 to 682. The contractor shall provide all necessary rigging devices and make all rigging connections for hoisting the lathes. The machine shop has a 10 ton crane available to lift the lathe. The contractor is responsible for safely moving the lathes. The contractor is responsible for correcting any handling damages to the lathes. The contractor shall remove the existing lathe from the machine shop. The contractor shall install and set up new lathe in the same area of the existing lathe. Proper installation shall include leveling and grouting of the machine. Contractor shall test the new lathe to ensure all the functions are fully operational. TRAINING. The contractor shall provide training on the new lathe. The training shall be conducted by a factory representative at Truman Power Plant. The training shall consist of two sessions with three to four operators in each session. Each training session shall be a minimum of two days and shall include both classroom and hands on type. The operators current experience level varies from beginner to journeyman machinist in the operation of lathes. TIME OF DELIVERY. All work for this contract shall be complete no later than 120 days after date of award. WARRANTY. The lathe shall be warranted by the factory for at least one year parts and labor. DOCUMENTATION. The contractor shall provide three copies of the operations and maintenance manual for the new lathe. Payment for work in this contract will not be made until all manuals have been submitted. EXISTING LATHE. The existing lathe is a 17 Turn-nado Geared Head Engine Lathe, manufactured by South Bend Lathe, Inc. (Catalog Number CL 170 G, Serial Number 76GJ2656).
