Description
In August 2005, the Social Security Administration (SSA) competitively awarded a contract to Nero Inc. for CD/DVD burning software to support SSA's new intelligent workstation and LAN environment. The product is included as part of the software image for all SSA workstations. Through the Nero contract, SSA acquired 126,390 licenses for Nero 6x Ultra Edition software. The contract also included maintenance/support services and the ability to purchase additional copies of the software. The current contract is due to expire in November 2009. The intent of this notification is to advise industry that SSA intends to continue the use of this product as part of it's workstation image, to purchase an upgrade from version 6x to version 9x for our existing licenses and plans to issue a solicitation to provide continued service and support for SSA's inventory of Nero software. The Nero product is the only known product capable of satisfying SSA's requirement. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. SSA's investment shall be assessed when accomplishing a comparison to determine if it is in the Government's best interest to switch to a different CD/DVD burning software. This document does not constitute a solicitation for offers. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. Pricing data is not requested or required. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be assessed before a final determination is made. Respondents will not be notified of the results of any Government evaluation of submitted information. Any responses to this notice should be submitted electronically within 7 calendar days to Dennis.Failing@ssa.gov and refer to SSA Nero CD/DVD Burning Software.
