Description
RECOVERY. Modification issued to terminate contract in its entirety due to the discovery of relatively high concentrations of radon within the Adits which significantly changes the requirements under the current contract. Work for this project consists of clearing debris and mineralization from the existing radial drains within the North and South Seepage Control Adits, Abiquiu Dam, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. The intent and purpose of this work is to clear radial drains and allow for unrestricted flow of seepage water that is collected by the Seepage Adits. The Contractor shall provide all plans, labor, materials, shop facilities, supervision, tools, staging, scaffolding and any other items necessary for hydraulic/mechanical clearing of drains in the Adits. Contractor shall identify and utilize all necessary power, lighting, safety requirement etc. from the existing power sources at the facility. Depths of drains vary from 20 to 200 feet. Drains are installed in 3-inch diameter core holes drilled into interlayered mudstone, sandstone and conglomerate and are lined with 1.5-inch ID, Schedule 80 PVC pipe. During construction, water-bearing zones were identified in the core holes and perforated PVC pipe sections were located accordingly. Solid PVC pipe sections have butyl packers attached to secure the entire assembly within the core hole. Generally speaking, drains are oriented from 9 - 34 down from horizontal and from 56 82 up from the horizontal. The North and South Adits can be accessed by way of paved and semi-improved dirt roads. Access to the Adits will be provided by the Government. Adits are 10 feet high and 9 feet wide. Figure 2 shows a typical section that illustrates the Adits with the radial drain layout. Contract duration is 180 calendar days. NAICS Code 561790 with a size standard of $7 Million.
