Description
You are cordially invited to attend a Vertical Lift Aviation Industry/AcademiaDay, hosted by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of Land Warfare and Munitions. This event will take place on October 26 at the Sheraton Reston Hotel, 11810 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, Virginia, from 1-5 PM. The Department of Defense is interested in partnering with industry, academia, non-profit, and not-for-profit entities for the purpose of advancing the state-of-the-art of vertical lift aircraft technologies leading to the next generation and generation-after-next technology for vertical lift aviation. Should the industry choose to self-form into a consortium, it is the Departments intent to enter into an Other Transaction Agreement with this consortium in order to leverage investigations and development of advanced concepts. Through this legal arrangement, the government expects to facilitate advances in the development and maturation of rotary-wing and tilt-rotor aviation technologies and other vertical lift concepts, improve the integration of mission equipment packages, and reduce the risk of technology transition into vertical lift aviation platforms. Consortium members will participate with their Government counterparts in a number of working groups to inform and shape the Departments annual rotary-wing and tilt-rotor aviation research plans. These working groups will focus on key elements of the Departments Science and Technology framework. It is expected that consortium members will provide input on a wide array of enabling technologies, such as: fly-by-wire, improved engines, electric drive trains, safety improvements, integrated Aircraft Survivability Equipment, composite structures, rotors, drives, etc. The purpose of this event is to engage interested members of the vertical lift aviation private sector to consider the benefits and opportunities for entering into an Other Transaction Agreement with the Department of Defense. The following information will be presented to attendees: -A DoD Perspective on the State of Vertical Lift Aviation-An Overview of on-going DoD Activities and Studies-Partnering with the DoD The Consortium Construct-Proposed Way Forward No sensitive or classified information will be discussed. Foreign-owned, controlled, or influenced firms are advised that security restrictions may apply that may preclude their participation in these efforts. Registration for the Vertical Lift Aviation Industry/Academia Day is free. Attendees for Industry/Academia Day are limited to 2 individuals per company. Point of contact for registration and questions is Ms. Morgan Ross at morgan.ross@us.army.mil, 973-724-3504.
