Scope of Work for Catholic Accompanist This is a sources sought notice. This Request for Information (RFI) is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal. It shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to award a contract as a result of this request for information. The 43D CONS, Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina is interested requesting information on procuring a Catholic Accompanist for performance at Pope AFB Chapel. Specification Details: The position requires a positive, spiritually sensitive person who specializes in working with the chapel staff members, all military personnel and chapel volunteer lay leaders, with these specific criteria: a. Must be an active, practicing Christian, preferably Roman Catholic. b. Must be at least 18 years of age. c. Must be able to play the organ and/or piano, and sight-read religious music. Must be familiar with Roman Catholic liturgy and music from both traditional/contemporary composition and be well versed in a variety of music styles. Previous accompanist experience is desirable. d. The Catholic Chaplain or another individual designated by the Catholic Chaplain must interview the applicant prior to execution of the contract. An audition may be part of the interview. e. Must be willing and able to accept direction from the Director of Music who is responsible for selecting music and, together with the Chaplain/Pastor, for deciding what parts of the Mass will and will not be sung. f. A background investigation conducted in accordance with DOD instruction 1402.5, Criminal History background Checks on Individuals in Child Care Services will be accomplished on all personnel selected for this contract. Refusal of personnel to consent to the background investigation will result in immediate termination of the bid or an existing contract. Character: Ability to work supervised. The individual must be positive, self-directed, motivated, and able to interface well with people. Will maintain high standards of personal and moral conduct and decorum expected of all those who represent the chapel, including but not limited to dress and grooming. The ability to work collaboratively with a diverse chapel staff is a must and will be adhered to. Skills: Strong people skills are required. The ability to work with various chapel committees and groups and resolves conflicts is crucial. The ability to listen and follow instructions from the Wing Chaplain and NCOIC, Chapel Section is necessary. Date, Time and Place of Performance: To Function as Catholic Accompanist during the period of 1 year. The contractor will provide approximately 1.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year for Sunday Mass at 0915-1045 (52 units). Sunday hours are not negotiable. Contractor is also required to perform up to 52 rehearsals per year (52 units). Rehearsals will be on Monday at 1845 to 2015 hours. Special services, i.e., Religious Holidays, visiting Catholic dignitaries, etc. for a total of up to 25 units may be scheduled. The Chapel, building 317 will be the primary place for all services and rehearsals unless otherwise directed by the supervising chaplain. Contractor Responsibilities: The contractor agrees to furnish the following described services at the locations, intervals, and times specified by the Contracting Officer: 1. Provide musical accompaniment during Roman Catholic worship services for the congregation and the choir, which may include, but is not limited to: prelude, offertory, postlude, choral and congregation responses, anthems, solos, and hymns for each service. 2. Work in conjunction with the choir director, other musicians and the chaplain responsible for the service in the selection, preparation and performance of music which relates to the theme established by scripture reading and/or religious season. 3. Contract must be able to combine musical ability with a working knowledge of contemporary and traditional Catholic music. 4. Contractor will collaborate with the director of music on the selection of music and songs from appropriate ecclesiastical sources. The Director of Music is charged with the authority to make the final selections. 5. Contractor will insure that all equipment and/or furnishing is turned off and/or returned to its proper place following services. 6. Contractor will wear appropriate clothing when performing services and rehearsals. 7. Contractor will adhere to chapel policy and Air Force regulations when using facilities and equipment in support of music programs. 8. Contractor will remain present for the entire time period involved in any rehearsal, performance or worship service contracted. 9. Contractor is required to provide subcontractors who are equally qualified and with the prior approval of the Director of Music in cooperation with the Chaplain/Pastor. Unless there is a bona fide last minute emergency, a request for substitution will be submitted at least one week prior to the service. 11. Contractor will have music and necessary equipment ready by start time for services and rehearsals. Interested vendors must submit a response to this RFI no later than 3:00 pm ET, Saturday, September 26, 2009. Information can be submitted via e-mail or post office mail.
