- Description
- The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS0, University Drive C, Pittsburgh, PA 15240 intends to negotiate with Alliant Enterprises, LLC, 8850 M 89 Suite A, Richland, MI 49083 for the System 6 Heavy Duty Sternum Saw and attachments, foot pedals, blades, guards and all other disposables required to enable this system to function properly in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1. The System 6 Sternum Saw has increased speed for a more efficient cut, and cuts 21% faster than the System 5 Sternum Saw. It has more power which is fueled by a new longer lasting battery. It has a smaller, light-weighted hand-piece for improved control and comfort. There is an option to use a small battery for decreased weight, or a larger battery for increased run-time. This is the only saw that has a short sternal guard attachment preventing the possibility of cutting past the sternum bone into the pericardium. The blade can be angulated in different directions necessary to perform opening of the sternum. This also auto-reconditions the battery when the battery has been damaged by the heat of the autoclave saving on costly battery replacement. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest, accompanied by supporting literature to the Contracting Officer no later than September 25, 2009 2:00pm. Responses should be sent to Kathleen.Policicchio@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
