Description
THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTORS UNDER TARRES19109-TARRES19009. ************Closing date extended to Friday 25-SEP-09 1500hrs.******************** QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS REGARDING IMPACT CHAMBER/BLAST SUPPRESSOR 1. Does the contractor need to provide all necessary rigging components such as a forklift for unloading and a crane to lift/place sections? The drawings have several cut outs are suppose to be open windows or shall something to be placed over them? Will the HRA plates be available shortly after award for pick-up? Answer: The contractor shall provide all lifting and rigging equipment. We have nothing heavy enough to do this work. There are window openings in the door, north wall and roof panel. The SABL will provide transparent armor pieces 16x16 inches to fit into the window openings. The contractor is not responsible for the windows. The Rolled Homogeneous Armor plates will be available for pick-up two days after contract award. 2. How will the rolled homogeneous armor plate be supplied? Will it be finished sizes or large plates that need to be cut down? If large plates what will the sizes be? Answer: The RHA which the Government is furnishing for this job is cut to nominal size appropriate to make the parts shown on the drawings. This is surplus material that has been collected by the Government from past projects. The sometimes strange cut sizes of the RHA used in this job and subsequent seam welding is caused by the use of this existing surplus steel armor. Although the plates are cut to size it would be wise to include the cost of edge preparation prior to welding. Some cuts were made by the previous contractor just to reduce the plates to manageable size for our storage and thus may not have true dimensions or 90 degree corners. 3. Beam Support - Det 2 does not give a thickness. Can you clarify? Answer: The missing stoke thickness dimension on drawing TA 27.8000 Det. 2 is.50 inch. 4. What is the stroke length on the super cylinder, ta27-8060? Answer: The Duff-Norton Super cylinder(TM) Model NZ06-0724 called out on drawing TA 27.8060 has a catalog listed maximum stroke length of 77.0 inch.
