- JOFOC The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) intends to make a sole source award to Mercer, Inc. for Pension Administration Services. The period of performance is for six months. PBGC is legally required to assume trusteeship of the Retirement Plan of Circuit City Stores, Inc. as a result of bankruptcy of the Circuit City Stores, Inc. This prior administration support provided by Mercer to Circuit City Stores, Inc. will no longer be available after September 23, 2009 (120 days after trusteeship) due to PBGC procurement requirements. In order to ensure that future retirement calculations can be completed accurately and timely PBGC will require the services of Mercer for a short period after trusteeship. This action will be a one time contract for highly technical customized plan-specific services relating to the Retirement Plan of Circuit City Stores, Inc. (The Plan). These services will be for pension administration expertise, detailed knowledge of participant data and complex participant calculation about “The Plan.” These services are necessary to enable PBGC to assume trusteeship of “The Plan” and ensure that customer service standards, of uninterrupted payment of benefits to retirees and future payees, are met during initial trusteeship of “The Plan.” This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), but a Notice of Intent. No RFP will be issued.
