Description
The project consists of maintenance dredging of Kings Bay Entrance Channel from Station 80+00 to Station 470+00 of Cut-1N. The maintenance dredging will be to a required depth of 49 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth with placement in the designated Ocean Disposal Area, Fort Clinch Disposal Area, South Jetty Disposal Area, and North Beach Disposal Area which are respectively located approximately 14.0, 3.0, 1.0 and 3.5 miles from the authorized project. The contract has two types of disposal areas: Ocean and Beach. Maintenance dredging of Cut-1N of Kings Bay Entrance channel between Stations 80+00 to 100+00, Station 200+50 to Station 230+00 (between ranges 750 to 1000), and Station 230+00 to Station 470+00 is designated to be placed at the Ocean Disposal Area, (D/A-O). Post sampling analysis has indicated beach quality material is found to be from Cut-1N between Station 100+00 to Station 200+50 and Station 200+50 to Station 230+00 (between ranges 1000 to 1250) with material designated to be placed at 3 different disposal areas: Ft. Clinch Disposal Area (D/A-F), South Jetty Disposal Area (D/A-SJ), and North Beach Disposal Area (D/A-NB). Only hopper dredges will be allowed to work on this contract. Work also includes turbidity monitoring, endangered species monitoring, vibration monitoring. For Beach Placement, work will include beach tilling and sea turtle monitoring.
