Description
It is the intent of the National Institutes of Health/ National Library of Medicine to modify contract number HHSN276200800445 entitled Medlline Plus: Developing a Pragmatic Approach for Clinical Use" The modification will increase the funding ceiling from $94,993 to $129,993 and extend the period of performance to August 31, 2010 Contract Number HHSN276200800445P was awarded as a result of an unsolicited proposal submitted by the University of Missouri. The purpose of the contract is to compare two standardized processes to deliver a health information prescription located on a customized website that will contain physician recommended links to MedlinePlus. The additional funds enable a significant expansion of the number of participants the contractor will recruit to take part in a clinical intervention. The increased number of participants significantly increases the statistical power, overall robustness of the research, and permits a desirable stratification of the patient results by participating clinics. In addition, the modification will boost the time the contractors have to collect information about the clinical intervention's impact on participating physicians. Since patient recruitment for the study will not begin until early fall 2009, the additional funds will contribute directly to the study's significance and enhance the possibility that the results will be more helpful to NLM (and the eventual findings will be published in refereed medical journals). The tasks/deliverables that are supported in the contract modification do not constitute new work and are within the framework, design, context, and execution of the original project. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations nor is a request for quote available. All questions regarding this notice may be submitted electronically to Sally Boakye at boakyes@mail.nih.gov. Please reference notice number 09-218Sb on all inquiries.
