Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation, Notice of Intent. The Midwest Area for the Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture intends to issue an award to National Center for Genome Resources, 2935 Rodeo Park Drive East, Santa Fe, NM 87505. This is a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This is a requirement of the Plant Science Research Unit, MWA, ARS, USDA at St Paul, MN. The services required are high-throughput whole genome paired end sequencing (WGS), through the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR) via Illumina WGS using Illumina Genome Analyzer IIx. The NCGR will generate 15 genomic libraries and two transcriptome (RNA-sequence) libraries and sequence each library to a depth of at least five million reads for $45,000.00. The NCGR will also provide bioinformatics support for analyzing the generated sequences. This sequencing is part of a three-year ongoing collaboration between NCGR and the soybean genomics project in the USDA-ARS Plant Science Research Unit (PSRU) st. Paul, MN to define introgressed regions and deletion mutants in the soybean genome. Previous collaboration between NCGR and the PRSU have defined introgressed regions in the soybean genome for the quantitative trait of high protein using high-throughput Illumina sequencing, resulting in a joint publication co-authored by NCGR and PRSU scientists. The sole source sequencing and bioinformatics described above will build upon previous Sequencing done between the NCGR and PSRU. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 10 calendar days after publication of this notice. It should be noted that no contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations will be held with National Center for Genome Resources without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
