- The VA Network 22 Logistic Office intends to enter into sole source procurement with Harvard Medical School. This proposed contract action is being conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, incorporates provisions and clauses as those in effect. This procurement is for a five-day (February 26 - March 2, 2010) geriatric review course that provides an authoritative update on the specialized clinical management of elderly patients. The program incorporates the knowledge and skills of the many disciplines needed for effective management of medical, neurological and psychiatric illness in the aged. Lectures are complimented by small group workshop sessions that emphasize practical approaches to the complex problems of the geriatric population in a variety of settings, including office practice, hospital and nursing home.The Educational Objectives include: recognizing the altered presentation of common illnesses in elderly patients; ability to discuss the etiologic factors contributing to the most commonly encountered geriatric syndromes; ability to describe principles of appropriate and effective prescribing in elderly patients; the ability to differentiate between the effects of aging and disease; and the ability to manage common medical problems. This course is being sponsored by the New England GRECC and Harvard Medical School through the "Geriatrics Scholars Program".This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely by the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
