- RECOVERY. This notice is provided for informational purposes only. The procurement is partially funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, project 4201S. The award is a $800,000 modification to contract N00024-05-C-4217 for evaluation of competitive technologies associated with a DDG 51 Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) system proof of concept demonstration. HED is aimed at improving the operating efficiency of the engineering plant on DDG 51 Class Ships and is intended to demonstrate the capability for significant fuel savings. This supports the national defense imperative to reduce dependence on foreign non-renewable energy resources. The contractor is Curtiss Wright Electromechanical Corporation, 1000 Cheswick Ave., Cheswick, PA 15024. The contract was competitively procured under a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the development of related technologies. Due to the nature of the effort being research and developme nt in new technologies, a cost plus fixed fee modification to the contract is contemplated.
