This procurement is for one (1) each Genome Analyzer IIx (GAIIx), Item# TMG186971. The Government minimum requirements are as follows: Must be able to produce at least 20 Gb (gigabases) of high quality bas per run, Must be able to use a minimal amount of imput DNA as low as 0.1 ug of DNA, Must be able to produce paired-end reads of at least 101 bases at each end, Must be produce genomic sequencing data that can be assembled de novo (without a reference sequence or other assistance), Preparation time for samples to load on the sequencer should take less than a day, Straightforward protocols that require no beads or emulsions. Emulsions protocols are complicated and require a substantial amount of labor, Machine can run for at least 3 days without a person in attendance. A person would not have to come in during weekends or long hoiday weekends. Manufacturer's special features are: fast, simple library construction protocols. Protocols are adaptable to many applications (e.g., whole genome, ChiP-Seq, transcriptome, micro RNA, and methylome) and allow for use of samples as small as 0.1 ug., Samples can be multiplexed to gain additional efficiency in machine use, sequencer can generate over 20 Gb of high qualilty bases in one run, high quality data can be assembled de novo using software such as Velvet, sequencer can run unassisted for at least 5 days, data is compatible with standard sequence data analysis programs so that additional cost and development time is not required to convert from another format such as color space, data can be processed live so that large image files are not required to be stored off instrument. These minimum requirements are necessary for our ability to obtain sufficient high quality data in the required time frame.
