- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is contracting for scion wood collection and subsequent grafting at the Charles A. Sprague Seed Orchard located in the BLM Medford District in Oregon. The BLM in Oregon is in the process of closing both the Sprague and Provolt Seed Orchards and establishing new orchards of similar genetic makeup at the Tyrrell and Horning Seed Orchards. The project site is located in Josephine County, Oregon, The bench grafting will take place in the greenhouse at the Charles A. Sprague Seed Orchard, 1980 Russell Rd., Merlin, Oregon 97532. The majority of scion wood collection will take place at Sprague and the Provolt Seed Orchard, 14171 Williams Highway, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. Some material may be collected from the Dorena Genetic Resource Center, 34963 Shoreview Dr. Cottage Grove, OR 97424, from the Meridian Seed Orchard on the Tiller Ranger District in T29S R1E NW of Sec 31 or the Horse Mountain Seed Orchard on the Rogue River - Siskiyou National Forest in T37S R9W Sec 2 (See Section D: Orchards Location on Oregon Map, Vicinity and Site Maps for each orchard). This solicitation will be posted electronically at www.FedConnect.net (paper copies are no longer available). THE ESTIMATED ISSUE/POSTING DATE OF THE FULL SOLICITATION IS AUGUST 26, 2009. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.
